Dr. Maddin's research interests as an evolutionary biologist lie in understanding evolutionary implications of limb bud developmental timing and the mechanistic basis of limb bud initiation. She is also interested in the evolution of cranial morphology (form and structure) and how patterns of relatedness, development and function underlie the origin of morphological diversity observed among animals living today.
Dr. Maddin will work in the Murawala lab, studying the highly regenerative axolotl to inform her own research pathways.
