The MDI Biological Laboratory was incorporated in the State of Maine on August 21, 1913.

The Corporation holds its annual meeting on the fourth Thursday of July.
Full Members of the Corporation are scientists with advanced degrees who have worked at the MDI Biological Laboratory for at least one season, or such other persons as the Trustees may elect. Full members have full voting rights at any regular or special Corporation meeting. Annual dues of $40 are payable each January. Lifetime membership dues are a one-time payment of $250.
Associate Members are individuals who are interested in the aims and purposes of the Corporation. They may attend all Corporation meetings but do not share in voting rights. Annual dues of $15 are payable each January.
Honorary Members have distinguished themselves by their significant contribution to the Corporation, either as a scientist or by another contribution to the general welfare of the MDI Biological Laboratory.
