In addition to gifts that support day-to-day operations, donors may also designate their gifts to support a particular initiative such as building construction and renovation, disease specific research, or support of a student scholarship or fellowship.
Known as capital gifts, these gifts are typically given in the form of cash, securities, or tangible property. Capital gifts of a certain magnitude may also be used for naming opportunities, named for the donor or in honor of another person.
Why are capital gifts needed?
Capital gifts help us address our highest priorities: recruiting leading scientists, providing state-of-the-art research facilities and equipment, and supporting students and faculty as they pursue novel research projects.
Whether a gift to help build the MDI Biological Laboratory’s endowment or to renovate a building, capital gifts provide the Institution with the funding necessary to strengthen our research and educational programs.
Want to give through a Donor-Advised Fund?
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a type of giving program that allows you to easily support your favorite charities. You may also be eligible for certain tax benefits. An increasingly popular charitable vehicle, DAFs are an excellent way to both simplify your charitable giving and facilitate your strategic philanthropic goals.
If you already benefit from donor-advised funds and would like to send a gift to MDIBL, please make checks payable to MDI Biological Laboratory (and include MDIBL’s tax identification number 01-0202467) and mail to:
MDI Biological Laboratory

PO Box 35

Alternatively, if your donor-advised fund is with Fidelity, Schwab, or BNY Mellon, you may recommend a gift to MDIBL via DAFDIRECT.
