The MDI Biological Laboratory dedicated the Maine Center for Biomedical Innovation during the Annual Meeting of the Corporation. Funded with a $3 million state bond, the Center is an essential part of the growth of the Institution into a leader in regenerative medicine.

Ribbon Cutting for New MDI Biological Laboratory Building

Last July, MDI Biological Laboratory broke ground on the Maine Center for Biomedical Innovation. One year later, the laboratory celebrated the completion of the building with a dedication ceremony attended by faculty, staff, students, board members and supporters.  The new facility doubles the institution’s training capacity and frees up space for additional research teams.

On Thursday, the Maine Center for Biomedical Innovation officially opened its doors. “It’s a hub to actually provide the resources, education, and network connections necessary to start and launch businesses that are focused on science and technology,” Kevin Strange, Ph.D., president of the MDI Biological Laboratory, said in his remarks.
