With the safety of our staff and wider community in mind, MDI Biological Laboratory has implemented remote working for all staff for whom it is possible. We are committed to doing our part to help “flatten the curve” and slow the spread of COVID-19.
Lab-based research obviously depends heavily on being able to be present on campus, so a schedule is being put in place to make sure that research can continue (especially for research that is time sensitive), whilst making sure staff feel comfortable that they are safe and that our protocols are in line with CDC recommendations.
Senior staff and volunteers have adopted a roster to oversee care of the animal core (after all, the fish still need feeding!) and faculty and their teams will take this time, where being in the lab as often isn’t possible, and refocus their energies on constructive work that can be done remotely, such as writing research papers.
