Science That Matters: The Health Benefits of Chocolate
In this week’s Science that Matters, we learn from Dr. Bob Morris of the MDI Biological Laboratory about the health benefits of chocolate. Yes, you read that right! Chocolate is actually beneficial for us. Cacao, the powder made from grinding up the cacao seeds from the pods and extracting the oils, is a super food with lots of anti-oxidants. These anti-oxidants are what protect our cells from the damages aging causes. The chocolate we know and love is created by mixing the cacao oils and fats back into the powder. Dark chocolate is the best because it has more anti-oxidants than other kinds of chocolates. The higher the cacao percentage, the more anti-oxidants the chocolate has. So if someone tells you that chocolate is bad for you, show them this video!
