Dr. Augustin’s research interests are focused primarily on identifying the molecular mechanisms of angiogenesis — the process through which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels — and aging in the vascular system, developing pre-clinical models of malignant tumor progression and new anti-tumor therapies.
Building on high-resolution multiomics technology developed in the Augustin lab, the Augustin and Haller labs now propose to join forces to explore the African Killifish (Nothobranchius furzeri) as model organism to study mechanisms of vascular aging.
