Dr. Keiper’s research expertise is in mRNAs and protein synthesis, specifically how mRNAs get from germ granules to ribosomes, where the proteins that serve important roles in growth, development and everyday functioning are manufactured. This is Dr. Keiper’s third summer as a visiting scientist, and his collaboration with Dustin Updike, Ph.D., has already produced one collaborative NSF grant that will run through 2024.
Dr. Keiper also serves as a mentor to students at MDIBL.
