Accelerating Maine’s Life Sciences Sector
The Maine Center for Biomedical Innovation at the MDI Biological Laboratory nurtures emerging life sciences and technology companies and entrepreneurs by providing state-of-the-art incubator space, access to sophisticated scientific equipment and expertise, and business networking, training and mentorship opportunities.
As one of the nation’s oldest independent biomedical research institutions, the MDI Biological Laboratory is committed to improving human health by focusing on understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of tissue regeneration and aging. Designated a Center of Biomedical Excellence by the National Institutes of Health since 2013, the institution supports a growing faculty of investigators, international collaborators and outstanding trainees through its robust research, education and conference programs.
Established in Maine in 1898, the MDI Biological Laboratory is deeply committed to strengthening Maine’s life sciences sector. Our campus is located in Bar Harbor, Maine, just six miles from The Jackson Laboratory, with whom we routinely collaborate, share resources and contribute to Maine’s scientific enterprise.
