Grant Proposal Writing Workshop

An interactive grant writing workshop event.

Overview

The MDI Biological Laboratory will host a grant writing workshop co-led by Drs. Iain Drummond and James Coffman with material from Dr. David Dawson. Dr. Drummond is a MDI Biological Laboratory Professor and the Director of the Davis Center for Aging and Regeneration and Dr. Coffman is a MDI Biological Laboratory Associate Professor and Director of Maine INBRE. Dr. Dawson is a Professor Emeritus, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Oregon Health and Science University, and a former director of MDI Biological Laboratory.

This will be offered as an interactive workshop event. Individuals participating in the workshop portion of the event will develop and submit a 1-2 page “mini proposal” based on  guidelines and principles provided in advance of the workshop. These mini-grant proposals will be reviewed by assigned participants and the senior faculty in a mock study section.

New investigators and junior investigators are especially encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity.

Enrollment priority is given to INBRE project leaders and INBRE research training faculty

Tuition and Funding

This workshop is fully supported by the Maine INBRE program (NIH/NIGMS P20GM103423), which builds research capacities in states that historically have had low levels of NIH funding by supporting basic, clinical and translational research; faculty development; and infrastructure improvements.

There is no tuition or registration fee for this course, which includes lunch the day of the workshop. However, students must fund their own travel to and from MDIBL.
