The Corporation
The MDI Biological Laboratory was incorporated in the State of Maine on August 21, 1913. The Corporation holds its annual meeting on the fourth Thursday of July.
Importance of the Corporation
Being an incorporated entity is a key part of both MDI Biological Laboratory’s history and future. Incorporation provides an additional layer of protection to the organization by legally ensuring that the MDI Bio Lab will continue to exist, regardless of leadership changes, research foci or external pressures such as funding uncertainty.
Our Full Corporation members play a vital role in the governance of MDI Bio Lab; voting to confirm new Trustee members at the Annual Meeting in July. Our members form the strong foundation from which expert and diligent governance begins.
Membership dues also provide steady and reliable philanthropic income, allowing leadership to think strategically and plan ahead, as we continue to usher our beloved lab into the impressive future it deserves.
Corporation Membership
Membership options include Associate and Full membership, with yearly or lifetime dues. Join the corporation today and feel good knowing you are an essential part of MDI Bio Lab, now and for perpetuity.
Current Corporation members who would like to nominate new members should email the Development Office.
New members of the Corporation are elected by the Trustees at their July meeting. Those nominated should not pay dues until they are confirmed as members at the July meeting.
The Corporation’s honorary members have distinguished themselves by their significant contribution to the Corporation, either as a scientist or by another contribution to the general welfare of the MDI Biological Laboratory.
